David H. Ucko, Ph.D., researches counterinsurgency and civil wars. He is the author of The New Counterinsurgency Era: Transforming the U.S. Military for Modern Wars (Georgetown University Press, 2009) and the editor, with Mats Berdal, of Reintegrating Armed Groups After Conflict (Routledge, 2009).
